CZECH REPUBLIC - Tunbridge Wells on Steroids

With no trains from Ardspach back over the Polish border now for around six months there is only one way to go, deeper into the Czech Republic. It was the right time to move on this morning as the weather in the hills had taken a definite downturn.

Bit wet at Adrspach station this morning

A couple of local trains were followed by a very well organised Engineering Work Replacement Bus Service - even the Swiss struggle with getting those right (I speak from experience!) so well done Czech Railways. Then two more trains and I find myself in the spa town of Karlovy Vary.

Arriving at dusk, I had a quick bite to eat and then went for a wander. Karlovy Vary can only be described as Tunbridge Wells on steroids.  It is a place to see but more importantly to be seen in. The waters can supposedly cure all sorts of ills and what you do - and I have seen many doing already - is buy a special china jug thing - then fill it with some of the water, which comes out of the fountains at varying temperatures - and then "promenade" through the colonnades sipping your water as you go. The combination of fresh air, the mineral rich water and the gentle exercise means you'll feel refreshed and revived - or so they say........

The colour of the deposits on the fountains is actually very Tunbridge Wells looking but who knows what too much of it might do to your insides.

This one comes out at 64 degrees

This one is at 56 degrees

Anyway, in for a penny in for a krouna, so tomorrow I shall be taking the waters and then having a little promenade.

My next blog post could well be coming from the toilet ............
